For the first time, Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana schools can submit a contest entry stating their case for why the Chicago Cubs should make their school a stop on the annual Cubs Caravan. The newly-created Cubs Caravan Visits My School Contest will reward one enthusiastic school with a visit from Chicago Cubs players, coaches and front office on the afternoon of January 12, 2011.
In cooperation with their students, teachers or principals can simply visit Cubs.com to submit an essay of 400 words or less in support of their school as a Cubs Caravan destination. The entry period is open now and ends December 17, 2010 at 8 p.m. CST. Schools must be located in Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, or McHenry counties in Illinois, or Lake or Porter counties in Indiana.
The annual Cubs Caravan is a two-day excursion of Cubs players and coaches to schools, neighborhoods and communities throughout Illinois and Northwest Indiana. The 2010 Cubs Caravan featured two tours of Chicago Cubs players, coaches and front office combining to visit seven cities, six schools, two Boys and Girls Clubs, Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a charity luncheon benefiting Chicago Cubs Charities.
