For the second consecutive year, an ice skating rink will welcome skaters to the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field this winter, thanks to the generosity of the Ricketts family and the Chicago Cubs, 44th Ward Ald. Tom Tunney, the City of Chicago, the Chicago Park District, local businesses and community groups.

Building on last year's success, a full-size skating rink will once again find a home in the Cubs parking lot at the corner of Clark and Waveland. Named The Rink at Wrigley, the endeavor is sponsored by the Ricketts family and the Chicago Cubs, Ald. Tom Tunney, the Chicago Park District, Westrec Marinas, the Central Lakeview Merchants Association, Patch Landscaping and the Lake View Citizens' Council.

"We are excited to bring winter fun back to our community and to highlight our commitment to our neighbors and the City of Chicago," said Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts. "The Rink at Wrigley offers a family-friendly activity for our fans and neighbors and helps keep Wrigley Field active year-round."

"The Rink at Wrigley will showcase the Lakeview community throughout the winter months. The Rink will help our local businesses and keep our neighborhood a top destination for families and tourists in the City," said Alderman Tom Tunney. "We greatly appreciate the generosity of the Cubs, the Chicago Park District, Central Lakeview Merchants Association and the Lake View Citizens' Council for making this possible again this year."

The Rink at Wrigley will be open beginning December 1, 2010, through February 28, 2011. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m., Friday 3 p.m. until 11 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. A Grand Opening celebration is planned for Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 10 a.m. and will be open to the community free of charge followed by an open skate. Monday through Thursday, admission to The Rink at Wrigley is $5 per adult, $3 per child and may be purchased on site for the morning, afternoon or evening sessions. Proceeds help offset the cost of the rink. Skate rentals will be available for an additional fee. Friday through Sunday, admission will be $10 per adult and $6 per child.
