Derrek Lee was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Brewers because of a bruise on the top of his left foot. His status was day-to-day.
Lee fouled a ball off his foot in the fourth inning on Wednesday in the Cubs' game against the San Francisco Giants. He could be back in the lineup as early as Saturday, Cubs manager Lou Piniella said.
Bobby Scales and Brad Snyder, who collided in shallow right field on Thursday chasing a fly ball, both came away virtually unscathed. Scales started at second on Friday. Snyder has a bruised thigh but still made the trip to Las Vegas for the Cubs' split-squad games against the White Sox.
Pitcher Angel Guzman, who has a torn ligament in his right shoulder, said he expected to see orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews on Monday. Andrews performed both the elbow and shoulder surgeries on the right-hander.
Guzman is trying to decide whether to have another surgery on his right shoulder or to take a conservative route and rehab the shoulder.
Infielder Andres Blanco, sidelined with a sprained right knee, will likely begin baseball activities in another week.
Pitcher Ted Lilly, who is rehabbing from arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder, was expected to have his third bullpen session on Sunday. Lilly could face hitters in a batting-practice session.
