Andruw Jones' farewell month?

Andruw Jones said there have been no contract negotiations between the Braves and him or agent Scott Boras, but he's not dwelling on the possibility of this being his final month with Atlanta.

"I ain't even thinking about it," he said before Sunday's loss. "I'm thinking about playing better baseball, getting our team going."

In the final season of his contract, Jones has hit a career-low .222 with 24 home runs, 84 RBIs and a .316 on-base percentage. He'll be eligible for free agency, and the Braves haven't said if re-signing him will be a priority.

"We didn't talk yet," Jones said. "There's a month left, too much to worry about without [thinking of] the contract. Hopefully when everything's said and done, I'll get a contract so I can be here."

Some fans will blame manager Bobby Cox for the Braves' recent performance, but Jones said blame should be with the players.

"Fans don't know," he said. "It's not Bobby. He makes out the lineup. It's the players who've got to go out and get the job done."

So, maybe get one Jones toplay in place of another. This guys hit home run, but Jacque is a good fielder and base runner.

I would love to get Andruw. We would have a lot of power to work with and with our pitching who knows.

Lets dream big. Get Andruw, A Rod and Nathan. They would start calling us the Midwest Yankess. LOL If Cuban gets the team it could happen.

Cuban to the Cubs rescue?

Cubs fans finally have a reason to celebrate.

Not only did the Cubs snap their six-game skid Monday, but their fans woke up Tuesday to a Sun-Times back cover pondering the possibility of Mark Cuban buying the franchise.

Cuban told Jay Mariotti he would be interested, which at this point sounds more like wishful thinking " by Cuban and Cubs fans " than anything else, but still it's an intriguing scenario.

Imagine padded recliners in the home dugout and bullpen, gorgeous cheerleaders roaming the stands and a team that's at least competitive on an annual basis.

Cuban told Jay he's besieged by Cubs fans asking him to pursue the deal.

Could it happen? Should it?

As someone who's been courtside at Mavericks home games, I can tell you it would be a blast.
