Third baseman Aramis Ramirez left the Cubs game against the Brewers on Friday after suffering a dislocated left shoulder. A timetable for Ramirez's recovery wasn't immediately known.
Ramirez made a diving play in the third to prevent Ryan Braun's grounder from trickling down the left-field line. Ramirez corralled the ball but instantly pulled off his glove and began writhing in pain.
Braun reached on a single. Ramirez has been bothered by a left calf injury this season and has only appeared in 18 of the team's 29 games. He was still hitting .369.
Mike Fontenot moved from second base over to third and Aaron Miles entered the game at second. The team is already short-handed on the infield, with first baseman Derrek Lee nursing a sore neck. The Cubs traded for former Reds and Orioles utility man Ryan Freel before the game, though he would not be active until Saturday at the earliest.
