Statement by White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf on the death of Chuck Comiskey
CHICAGO - Chicago White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf issued the following statement today upon learning of the death of Chuck Comiskey, grandson of club founder Charles Comiskey and longtime executive with the team:
"Our thoughts and sympathies are extended to the entire Comiskey family today on the passing of Chuck Comiskey. Chuck represented the great tradition of Comiskey family ownership of the White Sox. During his time in the White Sox front office, Chuck played an important role in developing the Go-Go Sox teams of the 1950s, ultimately culminating with the team's winning the American League Championship in 1959.
"A friend to many of us and a tremendously nice guy, I will always recall his excitement and joy when we won the World Series in 2005. It was an honor for the organization to present him with a World Series Championship ring. We will miss seeing Chuck around the ballpark and around his beloved White Sox."
