The Chicago Cubs today selected the contract of outfielder Tony Campana and recalled left-handed pitcher Scott Maine from Triple-A Iowa. In corresponding roster moves, the club optioned outfielder Tyler Colvin and right-handed pitcher Marcos Mateo to Triple-A.

Campana joins the first major league roster of his career and will wear uniform number 41. Maine will wear uniform number 57. Both players will be available for tonight's game in Cincinnati.

With the addition of Campana, the club's 40-man roster now stands at 40 players.

Selected by the Cubs in the 13th round of the 2008 Draft out of the University of Cincinnati, Campana is a career .303 hitter (357-for-1,178) in four minor league seasons in the Cubs organization. He has 144 stolen bases in the four seasons, including 66 stolen bases between Single-A Peoria and Single-A Daytona in 2009 and 48 stolen bases last season for Double-A Tennessee. Campana is from Springboro, OH, which is approximately 35 miles north of Cincinnati.

Campana, 24, this season reached Triple-A for the first time in his pro career and batted .342 (41-for-120) with eight doubles, two triples, 27 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 30 games with Iowa. The left-handed batter and thrower posted a .383 on-base percentage and .442 slugging percentage.

In 2010, the 5-foot-8, 165-pound Campana was named to Southern League mid-season and post-season All Star teams after batting .319 (156-for-489) with 22 doubles, five triples, 76 runs scored and 48 stolen bases.

Maine, 26, made his big league debut with the Cubs last season and posted no record and a 2.08 ERA (3 ER/13.0 IP) in 13 major league relief outings. He held the opponent scoreless in nine of his 13 outings, stranded all seven inherited runners and held the opponent hitless with runners in scoring position (0-for-9). Overall, Maine limited opponents to a .188 batting average (9-for-48).

The southpaw is 2-1 with seven saves and a 2.84 ERA (6 ER/19.0 IP) in 14 relief outings with Iowa this season. He has struck out 21 batters and walked only eight in 19.0 innings pitched, limiting foes to a .229 batting average. Maine was acquired by the Cubs on November 19, 2009 for right-handed pitcher Aaron Heilman.

Colvin is batting .113 (7-for-62) with two home runs and eight RBI in 28 games for the Cubs this season. In his rookie campaign of 2010, Colvin batted .254 (91-for-358) with 20 home runs and 56 RBI in 135 games.

Mateo is 1-1 with a 5.74 ERA (10 ER/15.2 IP) in 20 relief appearances for the Cubs this season.
